By Dianna Dilworth

daniellesteelRomance novelist Danielle Steel has received the Légion d’Honneur award from the French government, the highest honor from the country.

The San Francisco Chronicle caught up with the author last week and asked her about the honor. Check it out:

“I’d heard people talk about it, but I wasn’t really paying attention,” Steel admitted with a laugh when we spoke last week. “But I’m totally thrilled because the Chevalier recognizes lifetime achievement, which is really cool.”

Steel joins author Philip Roth, who received the same honor back in October.
