On Monday, March 6th, I’ll be hosting my first seminar for mediabistro.com, a panel discussion called “Writing Biography: How to Transform a Great Life into a Pageturner.” I’ll be asking some leading biographers how they choose their subjects, organize their research, and figure out how to make a living while immersing themselves in someone else’s life for years at a stretch. We’re still putting together the final roster, but the confirmed guests right now are Robert Edelstein (left), whose Full Throttle: The Life and Fast Times of NASCAR Legend Curtis Turner was reviewed on the NYTBR front page last year, and Marshall Fine, who recently scored a Review review of his own for Accidental Genius: How John Cassavetes Invented the Independent Film. I should have one or two more authors nailed down by the end of the week…I’ll keep you posted!
