CNET’s Publishes New Story by Lauren Fox

By Dianna Dilworth

Tech news site CNET has published a new short story from author Lauren Fox

The news site has been expanding its literary endeavors. Recently, the site published the first-ever crowdsourced science fiction novel called, “Crowd Control.” Fox’s story, Happy This, Congratulations That, is running on a new section of the site called Technically Literate, a new series of illustrated works of fiction that launched in March. Here is an excerpt from the story:

Justin’s girlfriend, Greta, who has lovely teeth, also works at the Marketplace, like approximately half of the high school students in town. She and Justin spend most of their work hours in the stockroom, a dark cavern of canned goods, cereal, pot smoke and sexual activity. Hormone-addled employees hurry in in pairs and emerge later, one by one, furtive, flushed and sheepish. Justin checks in at his post here at the bakery every so often, looking pleased with himself, and also maybe a little bit confused.
