J.D. Salinger Book (GalleyCat)Harry Bliss, an illustrator and cartoonist at The New Yorker, has purchased the former home of the legendary J.D. Salinger. He has partnered with the Centre for Cartoon Studies to transform this house, located in Cornish, N.H., into a cartoonist residency.

Here’s more from The Los Angeles Times: “The Cornish Cartoon Residency, which will take place during February 2017, is being offered by the Center for Cartoon Studies. It is accepting applications now through Nov. 1, and in addition to living in Salinger’s place, the cartoonist will get a $600 stipend and be asked to give a talk at the Center for Cartoon Studies in White River Junction, Vt., 16 miles away.”

TIME reports that the resident must have a car with four-wheel drive and be prepared to perform chores such as shoveling snow and cleaning out the dehumidifier. The applicant who is accepted into this program will be notified on December 16. (via The New Yorker)
