features_wifinook.pngToday eBookNewser reported that Barnes & Noble will  sell its Nook eReaders in Walmart. Last week, news broke that Apple will sell iPads at Walmart as well–it seems digital books are coming to a mega-store near you.

Here’s more from the post: “Apple is expanding iPads into Walmarts and Amazon is dropping Kindles in Staples stores … The Nook will be available in 2,500 Walmart stores nationwide on October 24th. According to the B&N press release: ‘The NOOK eBook Readers will be prominently featured as the premier eBook Reader in the consumer electronics area. Many Walmart stores will feature a NOOK-branded eReading area where shoppers can see and touch a demonstration device.'”

Earlier this year, Barnes & Noble launched the Nook Wi-Fi with a $149 pricetag. What do you think? Can an affordable eReader compete with the iPad in general stores?
