Banished Words from GalleyCat Readers

By Jason Boog

Yesterday we shared the 2012 List of Banished Words created by the activist grammarians at Lake Superior State University.

Since then our readers have added more than 20 more words to their collection of overused, abused and fake words that infect our language. We’ve collected them all below–a useful compendium of the words that readers are tired of reading.

The original Lake Superior State list banned a long list of words too, including “amazing,” “baby bump,” “man cave” and “occupy.” What words would you like to banish from the English language next year?
