Archie Comics plans to conclude the original Archie series with the release issue #666.
According to the press release, this project “takes a look back at the wacky and heartfelt adventures that Archie and the gang have gone on over the years by Archie Comics legends Tom DeFalco, Dan Parent, Fernando Ruiz, and Pat & Tim Kennedy!” Parent has designed six interlocking covers. The publication date has been set for June 3rd.
A new Archie issue #1 will follow later this summer. Last year, CEO John Goldwater participated in a Reddit AMA session. He revealed that “ARCHIE #1 is going to be a completely fresh take on the Archie universe. We will harken back to the early days when Archie was born, in 1941 [with the] same sort of humor and visual sight gags, but completely new, current and modern.”
