Apple Will Allow Ulysses Seen App

ulysses-articleInline.jpgApple must be getting into the spirit of Bloomsday, because today the company decided to allow Ulysses Seen, the digital graphic novel adaptation of the James Joyce novel, to be published as an iPad app.

Apple had previously asked Throwaway Horse, the creators of the graphic novel, to cut or crop two panels that depicted nudity. The illustrator did so, but not without putting up a fight. Today, Apple rescinded its censorship and allowed the app to run as is.

Apple has admitted pretty openly that they were wrong to censor the app, especially given the book’s history with unjust censorship.
