Apple Keynote Today; iPod Tablet Cometh?

By Jason Boog

iphone3gs1.jpgApple Inc. (AAPL) has scheduled a keynote presentation today at 10 am PST in San Francisco–perhaps unveiling dramatic developments for digital books. Some speculate that the company will unveil the mythical iPod tablet today, but Apple representatives kept mum about the subject of the keynote.

During these press briefings, the company usually reveals a new product or development (like they did during the Great iPod Keynote of September 2007), so rumors abound. NY Times reports that Apple slashed iPod prices on the eve of the presentation, perhaps hinting at a new iPod release.

GalleyCat will cover the California-based event remotely, so stay tuned today for more developments. As GalleyCat has noted, insiders speculate that the Apple tablet will be a 10-inch device, similar to the iPod Touch that could rival Kindle offerings from Amazon.com, Inc. (AMZN). This theoretical device could use iPod and iPhone-friendly readers like Lexcycle’s Stanza and ScrollMotion, giving readers web access while reading.
