An Edible Plants Guidebook Featured on Kickstarter

By Maryann Yin

Collaborators Courtney Jean Perry and Tomer Kilchevsky hope to raise $17,500 on Kickstarter for their nonfiction book, The Edible Camino: A Pilgrim’s Guide. Perry and Kilchevsky wrote this guidebook to help those who embark on a pilgrimage to the Spanish city of Santiago de Compostela.

This guidebook will contain information on how to spot edible mushrooms and plants that can be found on this journey. The finished project will contain maps, photos, drawings, recipes, identification descriptions, and maybe even folk stories. We’ve embedded a video about the project above. Here’s more from the Kickstarter page:

“This will not be a typical guidebook. Pilgrims are infamously reluctant to carry extra weight, packing only the absolute essentials and abandoning the rest. Some even rip pages from books as they read them – but The Edible Camino will be one to keep. The guidebook is designed to be lightweight, affordable and user-friendly.”
