Amazon and Barnes & Noble Give Discounts to Recent eReader Buyers

features_wifinook.pngAs the eReader price war rages, Amazon and Barnes & Noble are giving a special discount to the first victims of the skirmishes–the people who ordered Kindles and Nooks before the price dropped.

Earlier this week, GalleyCat reader Jessica Assimon wrote: “I received my Kindle exactly two weeks ago in the mail at the $259 price. Do you think Amazon will reimburse people who bought the device up to a certain date?” Now she, along with other recent customers, has an answer.

The Wall Street Journal reported: “Amazon says it will give the $70 price difference between an old and new Kindle as a credit to customers whose devices were shipped in the last 30 days. Barnes & Noble says it will give customers a $10 refund and $50 gift card to Nook customers who are still within their 14-day return policy period.”
