New+York+Magazine+cover+7+10.jpgAfter her New York magazine cover story, “All Joy and No Fun: The Parent’s Paradox,” earned 1.5 million hits on the magazine’s website and sparked parenting debates around the country, Jennifer Senior has landed a book deal with Ecco.

The controversial article explored “a near constant correlation between parenthood and unhappiness,” but according to the release, her new book will provide “clarity, insight, and affirmation on one of life’s greatest choices.” Tina Bennett of Janklow & Nesbit negotiated the deal with Ecco’s editorial director Lee Boudreaux.

Boudreaux had this statement: “As a new mother, I read Jennifer’s cover article in New York with a combination of rabid interest, terrified recognition, thankful validation, and a desperate wish to grab the writer and say, ‘Tell me more!’ Most important, though, I walked away with a newfound ability to articulate a complex range of emotions about a truly profound experience I wouldn’t trade for the world, and a hunger to engage everyone around me–husband, co-workers, family members, more experienced parents, younger friends wondering when to take the plunge into parenthood–on the topic.”
