‘A Cape!’ Picture Book Featured on Kickstarter

By Maryann Yin

Marty Kelley hopes to raise $7,500 for his picture book project, A Cape!. The story follows a young boy who dons a cape and learns all about what it means to have super powers.

The funds will be used to cover the cost of printing 1,000 books. We’ve embedded a video about the project above. Here’s more from the Kickstarter page:

“This project is much more than a picture book, however. I’m a former second grade teacher and I love visiting schools. I get to talk to tens of thousands of kids at 50-75 schools each year to talk about how I create my books. I have developed a new presentation called ‘Imagination Is A Superpower’ based on A Cape!. I am working hard to promote the idea that imagination is as important as knowledge to young learners. If this project is funded, I will be able to promote the ‘Imagination Is A Superpower’ program at all the schools I visit.”
