Station Eleven is Reddit Book Club’s Latest Pick

By Dianna Dilworth

Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel is the next book for Reddit’s new book club.

“Emily graciously accepted our request for two AMAs discussing the book with the readers, one before the discussion thread and one after,” explains the book club. The first Ask Me Anything (AMA) session was on September 2, the next one will be on November 9th. In the first AMA, the author detailed how she found a literary agent on a list of agents published online. Check it out:

I worked my way down the list of agents, googling each one to see if they were interested in literary fiction, and then sent out the first three chapters of my first novel + a cover letter. The thirteenth or fourteenth one was Emilie Jacobson at Curtis Brown. She asked for the full manuscript, then rejected it, but did so with the most thoughtful long editorial letter, where she laid out all of the problems she’d had with the book.
