Amanda Palmer Performance Art (GalleyCat)Amanda Palmer recently unleashed a performance art piece for a children’s book drive. The rock star, who is currently eight months pregnant, covered her naked body in paint styled after Damien Hirst’s “verity” statue and posed in front of the New York Public Library’s Stephen A. Schwarzman Building.

Palmer explained in a blog post that the purpose behind this venture was to collect “childrens’ books in a beautiful pedestal made of bookcases. I let Neil title the piece of the day it happened…he picked ‘truth & consequences.'” Click here to see photos of the event.

Afterwards, both Palmer and her Newbery Medal-winning husband Neil Gaiman shared some of their favorite children’s titles with the NYPL bloggers. Palmer’s favorites include The Velveteen Rabbit and The Lorax. Gaiman’s favorites include Castle in the Air and The Chronicles of Narnia. (via Brain Pickings)
