Facebook Messenger Will Suggest Buying Fandango Movie Tickets by ‘Listening’ to Chats

By Christine Zosche

If you’re talking about going to see a movie with your friends on Facebook Messenger, you may soon see a new option pop up from Fandango—offering info and ticketing right within the chat app. On Thursday, Facebook Messenger launched automated suggestions for the Fandango chat extension available to users in the U.S., along with suggestions for GIF-sharing and “quick replies.” (Variety)

The feature—which privacy-squeamish users can easily opt out of in Messenger’s settings—is similar to other commerce-by-chatbot innovations like StubHub’s integrations with Skype and Facebook Messenger and Spotify’s efforts to bring listeners to concerts. (Fast Company)
