W+K, Travel Portland Want You to ‘Discover What Makes Portland So Portland’

W+K Portland launched a campaign for Travel Portland inviting viewers to “Discover What Makes Portland So Portland” (which sounds like it could also be the tagline for Portlandia).

For the campaign, W+K Portland teamed up with a group of the city’s artists, writers, craft brewers, coffee and donut connoisseurs and more to answer that question with a series of zine guides (which, in itself seems pretty damn Portland). Then the agency collaborated with the WIZZdesign animation collective for a series of videos utilizing mixed media. The 30-second “Discover What Makes Portland So Portland” video above, for example, presents its answer without words, letting the city’s beer, donuts, coffee and food, and lack of sales tax speak for itself. Other videos include “Beer For All Your Senses,” Dreaming Up the Best Meals and  “Where’d You Get That?” while the descriptions of the videos guide viewers to TravelPortland.com. where they can read all the zines and plan a trip.
