Saatchi & Saatchi New York launched a series of 30-second ads for Charter Spectrum, exploring how the brand’s high-speed internet can help navigate a variety of business and familial challenges.
“Pony Party” picks up where Saatchi’s family-centered efforts for the brand, launched last September, left off. A mother and father think they’ve thought of everything for their daughter’s birthday, when they realize they forgot the pony. But thanks to Charter’s high-speed Internet they can quickly order a llama from a petting zoo, which, it turns out, is close enough. Another ad focuses on Spectrum TV and a young man whose skateboarding stunt makes him Internet famous but left him in a full-body cast, while “She Shed” imagines the female equivalent of a man cave. The Spectrum Business-promoting “Dog Hats” promotes the serious speed of Charter’s high-speed offering for businesses…whether or not the businesses themselves are all that serious. Ultimately, the latest offerings don’t feel as focused or relatable as their predecessors. “Body Cast” in particular suffers from being too absurd for its own good. Dogs in hats are just objectively entertaining, though.
