R/GA, Kyrie Irving Share Another ‘Unexpected Move’ for Nike

By Erik Oster

Last month, R/GA Los Angeles launched its “Unexpected Move” campaign for Nike with a spot starring Cavs point guard, and unexpected mathlete, Kyrie Irving promoting his new Kyrie 2 basketball sneaker. Now Irving is back for “Unexpected Move #86” (we’re not sure what happened to 2-85), which deals more directly with his on-court skills.

The spot opens with a warning that “The Kyrie Inferno” may cause “spontaneous combustion and heat checks.” Irving then appears to explain that “The Kyrie Inferno is about one thing and one thing only: speed” as the spot switches to footage of Irving running down court and bursting into flames. The 30-second spot keeps thing simple, offering a much more straightforward association with the selling points of the Kyrie 2. We can’t help but get a little nostalgic for NBA Jam after watching the ad. This is the only thing missing.
