MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER Hires Former TBWA Creative as ECD

By Erik Oster

Full-service ad agency MUH-TAY-ZIK | HOF-FER announced the appointment of Jay Berry as executive creative director. In the position, Berry will work with co-founder, executive creative director John Matejczyk to oversee the creative department.

Berry arrives at the agency following four months as a freelance creative director with Apple. Prior to that he served as executive creative director with Translation for ten months, leaving  in October. That followed a year-long stint with TBWA\Chiat\Day as a creative director, making the jump from TBWA\Media Arts Lab, where he spent the two years prior. Before joining TBWA, he spent a year with Butler, Shine, Stern & Parnters as a senior art director, following six months in that position with Euro RSCG. He also spent a year in a freelance position for Anomaly and, beginning in May of 2005, three years with W+K as an art director. Some of his most high-profile work includes “Spaceman” for Nike, “Ears are Weird” for the iPhone5 and, most recently, “Shot on iPhone6.”

“When we set out to find an ECD, and creative partner for me, we had a clear objective: Find someone more talented,” said Matejczyk. “Fortunately, that part was pretty easy. With a portfolio of work including ‘Ears are weird’ introducing the iPhone 5 and the refreshing ‘I’ve never run this far’ line for Nike, I remember being super impressed when those campaigns first launched and knew he’d be a great fit for the team.”
