(More) Agency Holiday Cards Are Coming to Town

By Erik Oster

If there’s one thing you can make time for between the last-minute shopping and eggnog drinking today, it’s another round of agency holiday cards. Right? And we certainly have you covered. Our inboxes have been flooded with submissions from agencies large and small, to the point where we likely won’t get to them all before tomorrow. Here’s the third installment in our agency holiday card roundups. featuring Team One, Zimmerman Advertising, Deep Focus, Nail Communications and School of Thought.

For the holidays, Team One decided to give “The one gift everyone can use this time of year” — a moment of tranquility. That, rather extended, moment comes courtesy of a video of snow softly falling, set to gentle piano music. If you need an antidote to the anxiety of last-minute shopping and annoying family, you could do a lot worse. And with the current weather, it’s the closest most of us will get to actual snow any time soon.

Tampa-based Zimmerman Advertising is also thinking of snow this December. The agency created a snowglobe featuring their offices in the background. Each time you shake your phone or press the “Click Here” button it sets the globe to life, followed by a short phrase like “We like to shake things up too!” It’s not the most original of holiday card entries, but there are a few touches to set it apart, like the aforementioned phrases and the ability to turn the music on or off and switch between day and nighttime.Zimmerman JPG

The folks over at Deep Focus, meanwhile, have had enough of controversy. They developed a Chrome extension which temporarily blocks potentially polarizing posts on Facebook, replacing them with polar imagery. “Tired of Trump, Hillary, and seemingly endless arguments about every little thing?” the agency asks. “Trade all that for some penguins and Narwhals!” The extension automatically shuts off after December 31, so you can go right back to arguing in 2016.

Nail Communications embraces the darker side of the holidays with its “Honest Advent Calendar.” The calendar features daily items that might actually come in handy during the hectic holiday season, like a scratch off ticket, pain relievers and a mini bottle of Captain Morgan. We could have used this one at the start of the month.c83b7c45-e384-4ec1-b12b-3c432f91c7f2

San Francisco agency School of Thought decided to go the VR route with their holiday card. Introduced with the line “And you thought your holiday parting was nauseating,” it certainly lives up to the description. Not recommended for viewing after drinking the interns under the table at the agency holiday party or overeating with the family.
