In 2003, Gareth Kay moved to Boston and Modersnista! to develop their planning department. We heard a few weeks ago that he was moving to Goodby, but Kay himself wouldn’t cop to what we heard. We confirmed the move today.
There, Kay will support the business as director of digital strategy.
“That’s what interested me in the last few years-how digital is changing culture-and Goodby is one of the handful of places that get it,” he told us today.
Hashem Bajwa used to man this role, but has since headed to TBWA’s digital arts lab as executive director of strategy & innovation (hunh?). But Kay tells us the scope of the job has changed: it’s “[l]ess about digital a channel, more about digital’s impact on culture and therefore business, brands and communication.”
We’ll have to wait and see what that means. Good luck in the move west, Gareth.
