San Francisco agency Heat launched a spot for Madden NFL 16 featuring Dave Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, Julio Jones, Rob Gronkowski, Colin Kaepernick, Antonio Brown and Rex Ryan.
The spot, which the agency teased a few days ago, takes the form of a (fake) movie trailer for “Madden: The Movie.” As you might expect from the concept, things get pretty ridiculous very fast. The plot of the movie revolves around Franco training to play a game of Madden to save his girlfriend. So Franco and Mintz-Plasse round up a team of “playmakers” in order to prepare, but find a few twists along the way. At some point, Mintz-Plasse gets his hand on a dinosaur, who kind of negates the whole thing. Thankfully, this time around things don’t get musical (as they did in Heat’s spot with Franco and Kevin Hart last year) and the over-the-top shenanigans, which mock movie trailer conventions and Hollywood cliches, are fairly entertaining. It could have used a Mintz-Plasse on Franco slap, though.
