Fitzgerald & Co Hires New Creative Leaders from McCann, CP+B

Atlanta-based IPG agency and McCann Worldgroup affiliate Fitzgerald & Co named two new creative leaders this week, hiring group creative director Carl Corbitt from CP+B Boulder and associate CD Sherman Winfield from McCann New York.

The release tells us that these hires are the latest in an expansion that has increased the headcount in ATL by “close to 25 percent” over the past year due to both new business and increased work for current clients.

Regarding the newest additions to his agency’s roster, CCO Noel Cottrell said:

“Both are smart, fun and mega-talented and also have in common global creative experience on some of the best brands in the world and awards at Cannes, One Show, Effies and Webbies.  It’s awesome that we get to unleash their talent on our brands.”

Corbitt has been with Fitzgerald for several months in a freelance-to-FT capacity since leaving CP+B Boulder in January, while Winfield moved South in August. The two will work on Carrabba’s Italian Grill, Checker’s/Rally’s, and other assorted accounts.

In addition to those clients, Fitzgerald also won Coca-Cola’s Odwalla late last year, and it has recently produced work for Navy Federal and Pergo in addition to some of the first U.S. “Taste the Feeling” work for the larger Coca-Cola brand.

Corbitt started his agency career as a copywriter at FCB Chicago, later serving as global creative director on the Nokia business at W+K Amsterdam and holding similar positions at Goodness Mfg. and 180LA before beginning his second stint at CP+B in 2015 on Best Buy and Infiniti. Winfield was an art director at CP+B, SS+K and Crossing, moving to McCann in 2015 to work on New York Lottery, Choice Hotels and several additional accounts.

Other significant Fitzgerald & Co hires over the past year-plus include chief talent officer Liza Ramos, formerly with Droga5 in New York; VICE Media’s Mike McGarry, who serves as business lead on dedicated Coca-Cola unit Fitzco//McCann; and chief strategy officer David Matathia, who had been director of marketing communications at Hyundai North America after a stint at GSD&M.

Finally — just because we feel like saying it — FX’s Atlanta is a pretty good show.
