Ex-CD Of JWT Ends Up At Starbucks And Lives To Tell The Story

By SuperSpy

We got the link to this one in our anon tip box today, which means, that someone out there is at work. Thanks for the link, but you know – go home.

Anyway, Michael Gill, an ex-employee of JWT, is working as a barista at Starbucks. In his new book, ‘How Starbucks Saved My Life: A Son of Privilege Learns to Live Like Everyone Else,’ (OMG, that title… We gagged on our latte), Gill explains how he went from his 25 room childhood home to turning out coffee.

From CBS News: “He presided over ad campaigns for the Marines, Christian Dior and Ford [at JWT]. For 26 years he climbed the corporate ladder. But he didn’t see the end coming.” Yeah… who is surprised that this guy didn’t see the forest for the trees?

Gill says,

“I mean, it’s one thing to get fired from J. Walter Thompson. It’s another thing to be fired from Starbucks because you can’t even do the basic job.”

We’re all for holiday redemption stories and Gill certainly makes the top of our list. Read it all here.
