Energy BBDO Makes Some Cuts, CFO Among Them

By Kiran Aditham

We’ve received confirmation that Chicago agency Energy BBDO had to let go of some staff last week. A spokesperson tells us, “In the last year we’ve integrated significant new business, which required small adjustments to reshape the team in order to better serve our clients’ needs.”

The “significant new business” the Energy camp is referring to, of course, includes the likes of Quaker and SCJohnson. From what we we’ve been told by sources familiar with the matter, departments like project management were affected and approximately 10 staffers were cut. Perhaps the most notable among them was EVP/chief financial officer Tim Smith, who had spent the last three years in said position at Energy BBDO.

In addition to the cuts, Energy recently lost four-year vet and SVP/solutions director Claudia Richman to Digitas Chicago. Richman officially assumed the title of SVP/integration lead at the latter agency last week.
