Catherine Heath Out at Modernista

By Kiran Aditham

Well, that didn’t last too long. According to spies and even her own LinkedIn profile, Modernista! chief strategy officer Catherine Heath is out at the agency after just eight months.

Heath joined Modernista! in January from T.A.G. (now agencytwofifteen), where she was VP, planning director on Microsoft’s Windows Mobile portfolio. Prior to T.A.G., she held senior planning gigs at McCann Worldgroup and Y&R among other agencies.

It’s been a tough year for Modernista! as Heath’s departure follows a string of major account losses for the Boston-based shop including Cadillac and Palm. Word on the street is that TIAA-CREF might be out the door as well, but this is still unsubstantiated and we’ve reached out to both client and agency to confirm this tip.

Update: The folks at TIAA-CREF got back to us with this statement: “We’ve had a really good relationship with Modernista but we’re just taking it in a new direction.” The company wouldn’t comment on launching a review, but added, “We’re keeping up our [digital] partnership with Digitas.” Modernista! originally won the TIAA-CREF business in 2003.
