WXYZ to Add 10 p.m. Newscast on WMYD

wmyd logoDetroit ABC affiliate WXYZ is launching a 10 p.m. newscast on sister station WMYD, the MyNetworkTV affiliate in the market.

The newscast will debut tonight. WXYZ parent company E.W. Scripps’ purchase of WMYD from Granite Broadcasting closed today.

“We are passionate about Detroit and this region, and we are fortunate that our parent company, E.W. Scripps, has decided to invest deeper in this market. TV20 gives us an opportunity to expand our programming, news, and community service as we take an even bigger role in the rebirth of the city we serve,” WXYZ general manager Ed Fernandez said in a statement.

Weekday editions will be anchored by Glenda Lewis and Malcolm Maddox with chief meteorologist Dave Rexroth and sports director Tom Leyden. Dave LewAllen will anchor on weekends with meteorologist Hally Vogel and sports anchor Dave Solano.
