WWTV-WFQX Remembers Anchor Scott Michael Trager: ‘Not just a colleague, but a dear friend as well’

By Merrill Knox

WWTVWFQX devoted time on the Thursday morning newscasts to remember Scott Michael Trager, who died unexpectedly Wednesday morning.

Trager was the morning anchor at the Traverse City CBS and Fox affiliates. He joined WWTV in 1990 and spent several years as sports director before switching to news.

“‘Michigan This Morning,’ and all of us here at 9&10 News, lost not just a colleague, but a dear friend as well,” anchor Michelle Dunaway said tearfully at the top of the 5 a.m. hour. “Scott spent more than half of his life on the air, sharing himself with Northern Michigan. So many of us are heartbroken today.”
