WUSA reporter Peggy Fox wound up in the hospital while on deadline last week.
According to a story on the Tegna station’s website, she was shooting a story in the Washington, D.C., area when she experienced heat exhaustion symptoms.
Paramedics took Fox by ambulance to a local hospital, where she received fluids in the ER. She had thrown up, and her glucose level and blood pressure were low.
Fox was prepared for the heat that day: she had electrolyte tablets with her to help with dehydration.
On Twitter the reporter said, “a first in my 30-year career: Heat exhaustion put this @wusa9 reporter in hospital. Don’t make my mistakes! @ffxfirerescue has good advice—check it out & stay safe.”
She has recovered and is back home, resting.
