By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WTVA announced Liz Zamora will be the station’s new news director, ending a five-month search.

Zamora has extensive experience in local news. She started her career as a videographer in Springfield, Mo. and eventually moved to a role in front of the camera. From there, Zamora shifted into a management role as an executive producer and assistant news director in Albany, Ga. and Reno, N.V.

“It was a long, focused search as we sought out the best possible manager/coach to take over the leadership of WTVA’s award-winning team of journalists. Liz has worked in almost every position in a newsroom. She brings to us a perfect balance of experience and passion for serving the citizens of North Mississippi and North Alabama,” said general manager Jerry Jones.
