By Kevin Eck

Pat Prokop, meteorologist for Savannah, Ga., CBS affiliate WTOC is retiring today.

“FYI, after 38 years of broadcasting TV weather, 35 at WTOC, I will be retiring later this year,” he wrote on Facebook. “I plan to spend more time gardening, marathon training, travelling, participating in more community theater and volunteering with my church (Asbury Memorial) and other organizations and to simply enjoy all the weather around me.”

He started at the station in 1980 after starting his career at KOAM in Pittsburgh, Kan., in 1977 and then working in Joplin, Mo., and Wichita, Kan.
