Indianapolis’ WTHR Hires Established ND Keith Connors to Lead Its Newsroom

By Andrew Gauthier

Indianapolis’ WTHR announced today that Keith Connors will be its new news director. Connors left Houston’s KHOU in November after five years as ND.

“I am very excited about the leadership Keith will provide ‘Eyewitness News,'” said WTHR vice president and general manager John Cardenas in making the announcement. “Keith will be instrumental in taking WTHR to new levels of success.”

Connors has an impressive track record.  During his time at KHOU, the Belo-owned station brought home two national Emmy awards, two duPont Columbia awards, and six national Edward R. Murrow awards. Before joining KHOU, Connors spent seven years as news director at another Belo-owned station, Charlotte’s WCNC. While at WCNC, Connors’ newsroom was the focus of a five-part PBS documentary titled “Local News.”

Connors is set to join WTHR, a NBC-affiliate owned by Dispatch Broadcast, on January 12. “It’s exciting to be part of a newsroom and a television station with such a rich tradition of quality journalism,” he said.
