WSMV Teams Up With WeatherBug in Nashville

By Merrill Knox

WSMV has announced a partnership with WeatherBug to provide viewers with real-time weather updates from Nashville-area schools, buildings and parks.

WeatherBug maintains continuously monitored weather stations at more than 8,000 stations nationwide. The partnership will allow the station to use data and pictures from Weatherbug’s system to forecast weather in Nashville and beyond. WeatherBug currently has partnerships with more than 100 local television stations, but none in the Nashville market.

The WSMV weather team, led by chief meteorologist Lisa Spencer, plan to incorporate streaming weather maps and data into their broadcasts. The information will also be available on WSMV’s website.

“Our WeatherBug station helps us keep our viewers informed and prepared for the day, with clear, high-definition weather cameras and timely details on weather conditions,” Spencer said.
