WRDW Anchor: ‘The Former NBC26 Staff Got a Raw Deal’

By Chris Ariens

Last week WAGT-TV, Augusta, Ga.,’s NBC affiliate (market 112), shut down their local newscasts. It was the result of the station’s sale to Gray TV which already owns market leader WRDW. The decision to simulcast WRDW on WAGT has not gone over well with some viewers who are taking out their frustrations on WRDW anchors. Case in point, morning show anchor Meredith Anderson who responded to a viewer’s request for help involving a case of middle school bullying, by explaining to the viewer she was being a bully herself by writing on Facebook, “Meredith Anderson sucks.”

“She, like a lot of others, is not happy about the News 12 merger with NBC26,” Anderson says in this video posted on YouTube. “I’m the first to say it. The former NBC26 staff got a raw deal. Not by me. Not by us. But, still, I’ve been the subject of personal attacks because of it.”
