WPSD Photographer: ‘Daddy, There Has Been a Shooting’

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WPSD assistant chief photographer Chad Darnall didn’t rush to Marshall County High School Wednesday morning to cover the story.

He went to grab his daughter who escaped the deadly shooting.

According to a Facebook post, Darnell had just dropped off his daughter when he received a call. “Daddy, there has been a shooting,” his daughter told him

Darnall posted cell phone video of the chaos at pick up at Marshall and also a photo of his daughter’s muddy sneakers.

“Mud on the shoes would normally drive me crazy. This mud doesn’t. This mud is a reminder she made it out of the commons area. My prayers continue for all involved. People have seen things they can’t unsee,” Darnell wrote.

Police say a 15-year-old student opened fire at the school in Benton, Kentucky. Two students died, 15 others were shot. The suspect is expected to be charged as an adult.
