WPIX Teams Up With Former Yankee for Hurricane Relief

By Stephanie Tsoflias Siegel

WPIX is partnering with former Yankees All-Star catcher, Jorge Posada and his wife, Laura, to help people in Puerto Rico who are still suffering in Hurricane Maria’s aftermath.

PIX11 morning anchor, Dan Mannarino, will go along with Posada and his wife as they charter a jet of supplies to Puerto Rico this week and fly those who need medical attention back to the mainland.

In an exclusive interview with the station Posada said, “I saw it with my own eyes. They need to be able to buy ice, water and gas. There was nothing, none of the above. We are trying to provide that help.”

This will be the foundation’s fifth relief flight to Puerto Rico. Posada and his non-profit, The Puerto Rico Hurricane Relief Fund, have raised more than $330,00 for victims.

Coverage will begin on October 17.
