WPEC Anchor John Discepolo in Hospital With Rare Nerve Disorder

By Kevin Eck

WPEC anchor John Discepolo spent the last six days in the ICU with a rare nerve disorder, reports Gossip Extra’s Jose Lambiet.

He experienced paralysis that caused him to fall while carrying his two-year-old child.

Discepolo’s wife told Gossip Extra, the West Palm Beach, Fla., CBS affiliate’s anchor prognosis is good and he has been moved to a regular hospital room.

“It was scary for a while because nobody seemed to be able to tell us what was going on,” the 41-year-old Shay Morgan-Discepolo told us in an exclusive interview.

Discepolo is expected to be released from the hospital later this week but will have to undergo what’s expected to be several weeks of physical therapy. He is likely to miss most newscasts in November, a key period in determining television ad rates.

Discepolo has not been on the air since October 15, and Liz Quirantes has been presenting some newscasts alone.
