WPBF has promoted its assistant news director Travis Sherwin to news director.

“Travis’s enormous contributions over the past three years have made a definite difference in our content and our product,” said president and GM Caroline Taplett. “His long tenure in this business combined with his journalistic integrity and intense focus have prepared him well to lead our newsroom into the future.”

For the past three years, Sherwin has been the assistant news director at the Hearst-owned West Palm Beach ABC affiliate. He started working for Hearst in 1998 as special projects producer at WESH in Orlando, Fla. He moved to managing editor there before joining WPBF. He’s also worked in Orlando and Fort Myers, Fla. and Casper, Wyoming.
