More than eight months after 24-year-old KJRH photographer and editor Cameron Michael Hood died in a car accident, a Collinsville, OK, woman has been charged in his death.
According to Tulsa World, Hood was on his way to a college class December 5 when, Owaso police say, Shea Lynn McClain ran a stop sign and hit Hood’s car. Hood died at the scene.
McLain has been charged with negligent homicide with a motor vehicle and child neglect
McClain reportedly had a child in the SUV at the time, court records state.
Shortly after Hood died, KJRH Chief Photographer Phill Willette said the journalist “carried himself professionally, and, more importantly, he possessed an empathy and sensitivity for the people he was covering. … That’s a trait you can’t teach anyone, and he was wise beyond his years for having that gift.”
Hood was a 2009 graduate of Owasso High School and received an associate’s degree in mass communications from Tulsa Community College in May 2013. He was working to complete a bachelor’s degree at Rogers State University.
Jail records do not show McClain in custody as of Wednesday evening. She is wanted on bonds totaling $17,500, court records show.
