WOFL Reporter Patrick Pegues Scuffles with Cop While Covering Deadly Shooting

By Andrew Gauthier

WOFL reporter Patrick Pegues got into a scuffle with a police officer as well as a group of private security guards today while covering a deadly shooting at a 24-hour internet cafe.

Sources tell Florida News Center that Pegues, who had interviewed a local police officer during the Fox O&O’s morning newscast (video above), was about to do a live stand-up shot in front of the internet cafe when a security guard confronted him, asking him to leave.

After Pegues ignored the security guard’s request, a police officer grabbed him from behind. Pegues instantly reacted and threw the officer to the ground, at which point security guards rushed in to restrain him. Video of the scuffle after the jump…

This isn’t the first time that Pegues has tussled with police while covering a story. In 2007, he was arrested for disorderly conduct and resisting an officer after he ignored requests to stay inside a designated media area while reporting on a car accident.

No word yet on whether Pegues has been charged in this morning’s incident.

>Update: A WOFL spokesperson tells TVSpy that the station is “aware of the incident and reviewing it.”
