WNEP Anchor Cited for Harassment

WNEP weekend anchor Jim Hamill has been cited for harassment after allegedly hitting a woman with a door.

He wasn’t on-air for the Scranton, Pa. ABC affiliate this weekend. He’s worked at the station for more than ten years.

“He allegedly caused a cut and swelling to the forehead of Sara Elizabeth Katrenicz when he struck her with a door inside his East Street residence around midnight Feb. 12, according to the citation,” reports the Times-Leader. Katrenicz is a friend of his wife.

State police were asked to investigate because of a conflict of interest. Hamill’s wife, Melody Robinson is the Mayor of the borough in which they live. He was fined $254.

“We’re glad this is finally getting resolved and happy to dispel the notion that any assault occurred that evening,” said Hamill’s attorney. “We want to thank (state police) for their professionalism in conducting the investigation and are grateful for their hard work.”
