Meteorologist Bill Reh has retired from Raleigh, N.C. CBS affiliate WNCN after nearly 40 years in local television.
Reh told the Raleigh News & Observer he decided to retire after the station offered him a six month contract extension instead of the usual yearlong ones.
“I wanted to do it, but I was scared to do it, and finally I’m doing it — and it helped that they helped me make my decision by suggesting six months,” he said. “Because who knows how long I’d have kept doing year by year?”
He started his career at WTVD in Raleigh in 1983 and worked there for 13 years. After a stint as a financial planner, he went back to local TV at WLFL in 1998 before joining WNCN in 2004.
The station celebrated his career with recorded congratulations from former co-workers and viewers like North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper who congratulated Reh and said “I hope the next chapter is your best on yet.”
