WNBC Nixes Health and Lifestyle Show in Favor of ‘America’s Court with Judge Ross’

By Merrill Knox

FishbowlNY reports today on the lineup changes at WNBC, the NBC owned-and-operated station in New York City. WNBC has nixed “The Daily Connection,” which focuses on lifestyle and health headlines, replacing it with “America’s Court with Judge Ross” in the 12:30 p.m. timeslot.

FishbowlNY points out that this lineup shuffle could indicate WNBC’s noon newscast, called “The Rundown,” is also at risk. Both “The Rundown” and “The Daily Connection” mix live headlines with previously taped content, making them easily replaceable with syndicated programming:

Hosts Michael Gargiulo and Tracie Strahan present an amalgam of quasi debate and retread stories from the night before.  That includes a nearly even assortment of local and national stories … Only in the rare case, when there’s breaking news or for snowstorm mode, WNBC skips The Rundown opting instead for live coverage.
