WMUR reporter Audrey Cox has been accused of driving under the influence and hitting a 79-year-old pedestrian.

WMUR reports Cox, who is a part-time employee at the station, was arrested Friday night after hitting the 79-year-old woman. Cox has been charged with DUI and reckless driving. Both are misdemeanor charges.

“It was a regrettable accident, and we are confident when all the evidence is reviewed that alcohol did not play a role in this accident,” Cox’s attorney said in a statement.

She started at WMUR in 1994 and left in 2005 to work at New Jersey’s News12. She worked as an associate producer at Fox News Channel before coming back to WMUR in 2011 as a part-time fill-in reporter.
