WMUR Partnering with ABC News on Republican ‘Straw Poll’

By Andrew Gauthier

WMUR is teaming with ABC News to produce a “straw poll” that will determine which potential presidential candidates have the most buzz among members of the New Hampshire Republican party.

WMUR, an ABC-affiliate based in Manchester, NH, announced in December that it would partner with ABC News to cover the state’s Republican presidential primary debate. New Hampshire traditionally has the first presidential primary of the election season.

“We are proud of the First in the Nation tradition in New Hampshire and are happy to be participating in a poll that could likely give us the earliest indication of which candidates Granite State Republicans are watching the closest,” said Alisha McDevitt, WMUR’s News Director.

The poll, which is sanctioned by the New Hampshire Republican State Committee, will give members of the state’s Republican party an opportunity this Saturday to anonymously choose their pick to be the 2012 presidential nominee.
