WMTW Promotes Hearst Veteran Amy Beveridge to News Director

WMTW, an ABC-affiliate serving southern Maine, has promoted newsroom veteran Amy Beveridge to news director.

Beveridge has served as assistant news director at WMTW for the past three years and has been a part of the Hearst organization for nearly a decade, first as a producer for WPBF in West Palm Beach and later with Baltimore’s WBAL, before moving to Maine in 2008.

“I am pleased to see Amy promoted to her new position,” said WMTW president and general manager Dave Abel in a press release. “Her ideas, passion and dedication to News, our station and Hearst Television are strong.”

A graduate of Emerson College in Boston, Beveridge began her TV career with NECN. She is replacing George Matz, who left WMTW in May after six years leading the newsroom to join Kansas City duopoly KMBC-KCWE as assistant news director.

In June, Beveridge and WMTW celebrated a national Edward R. Murrow award for the best small market newscast in the country.
