WLNE Promotions Director Retires, Replacement Named

By Kevin Eck

WLNE promotions director Judy Shoemaker is retiring after 22 years at the Providence, R.I. ABC affiliate.

The station says Don Curtin will replace Shoemaker, who started her career with Maine Public Broadcasting in the 70’s. She worked at WPRI before joining WLNE in 1994.

“I am extremely excited to promote Don to Promotion Director,” said John Methia, WLNE’s director of Operations. “A talented designer and producer, Don has worked hand in hand with Judy for many years promoting the station. His passion and can do attitude made him the obvious choice to take the helm of this very important position.”

Curtin started at the station as a chyron operator before working as a news editor/camera operator, graphic designer, director of graphics, creative services manager and IT Manager.

Shoemaker tells TVSpy she looks forward to “Sailing on our boat and traveling! We have a 42 foot sail boat and love to spend time on the vineyard and Nantucket.”
