WKMG GM Warns of Bright House Blackout: ‘You Know What It’s Like Dealing With Cable Companies’

CBS-affiliate WKMG and Bright House Cable are nearing a March 16 deadline to renegotiate their carriage agreement, and VP-GM Skip Valet is warning viewers that WKMG programming — including the upcoming NCAA basketball tournament — may be in danger.

“You know what it’s like dealing with cable companies,” Valet said in a video editorial posted on the station’s website. “They don’t care about your local information. That is not their priority. At Local 6, it is.”

Valet said he didn’t want viewers to “miss a minute” of WKMG programming, referencing popular CBS shows “NCIS” and “Two and a Half Men” as well as the NCAA basketball tournament, which begins on March 15.

Valet said he will continue posting weekly editorials on WKMG’s website as the deadline nears.
