Sinclair’s Washington, D.C. ABC affiliate WJLA used an iconic civil rights anthem in its tribute to the victims of the shooting massacre in Orlando.

“WJLA-TV Senior Producer Leslie Estes produced this emotional spot using the voices of the Gay Men’s Chorus of Washington spontaneously singing We Shall Overcome in front of the White House Sunday night,” WJLA creative services director Stan Melton told Paul Greeley from TVNewsCheck.

“At noon on Monday,” said Melton. “WJLA extended a 5’x20’ banner in the middle of DuPont Circle in the District, asking viewers and passersby to sign messages of love and hope to our friends in Orlando.

The station also made a spot about it.
